It is reported that Japan's Daikin Industries will cut the world's main air-conditioning copper consumption (currently 90,000 tons) by half before 2024.
Driven by economic recovery expectations and decarbonization trends such as the electrification of automobiles, the international price of copper has risen by 40% to 50% in a year. Daikin will be ahead of other companies and replace copper with aluminum to curb the increase in costs.
Copper is easy to conduct heat and electricity, and it is easy to process. Daikin has always used copper for heat exchangers of outdoor units of air conditioners. By 2023, Daikin Industries will halve copper consumption in Japan.
Air-conditioning heat exchangers will increase the use of aluminum, and the price of aluminum is only 1/3~1/5 of copper.
