According to ChinaIOL, in October 2018, the total output of the scroll compressor industry was 227,700 units, a year-on-year decrease of 40.64%, and down 21.16% from the previous month. Total sales volume was 225,500 units, a year-on-year decrease of 41.02%, and down 24.36% from the previous month: domestic sales were 192,000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 44.59%, and down 28.89% from the previous month; export volume was 33,500 units, a year-on-year decrease of 6.55%, and down 19.18% from the previous month.
In October, the scroll compressor industry continued its downward trend. The decline was further expanded compared with the previous period. The production and sales dropped by more than 40% year-on-year, setting a new low in the same period in recent years. The performance of the export market in this month was not satisfactory. The domestic market declined greatly. Due to the weakening of downstream demand and the impact of the 5HP dual-rotor model, the sales volume of domestic 3-7HP models plummeted. From the perspective of downstream applications, the off-season sales of household air conditioners in October was very weak. In order to digest channel inventory, manufacturers' production slowed down significantly, and output fell by more than 20% year-on-year. The domestic terminal market demand weakened, resulting in a significant decline in domestic sales. In terms of commercial air conditioners, the overall growth of the industry in October returned to double digits.
In October, the export volume of scroll compressors was 33,500 units, down 6.55% year-on-year; the export value was 10.2824 million US dollars, up 9.57% year-on-year; the export unit price was 30,703 US dollars per unit, an increase of 17.25%. The decline in the export market has slowed this month, and the export performance of mainstream scroll compressor companies has been different. Danfoss and Panasonic (Dalian) have increased compared with the same period last year. In terms of export regions, India, the United States, and Brazil were the regions with a large amount of exports this month; while Japan, South Korea, and Saudi Arabia, which performed well in the same period last year, all performed poorly this month, showing a significant decline year-on-year.
